10 mobiles found in Ferozepur jail expose security chinks
Ferozepur, May 2, 2022: High-rising buildings and open space on the backside of the central jail have posed a threat to the security arrangements with the throwing of packets containing banned items like mobiles and drugs. On Saturday and Sunday, during the surprise checking and in the packets thrown from outside by the unidentified persons, as many as 10 mobiles and 7 sachets of tobacco have been recovered. The purpose of keeping the criminals away from society as punishment is also lost.
During the last year around 300 mobiles were recovered and this year too more than 150 have been recovered during the current year by the vigilant jail staff.
As per the details, on April 30, during the surprise checking by Hari Singh Assistant Superintendent, 4 mobiles were recovered from different locations inside the jail premises. Another 6 mobiles and 7 sachets of tobacco were recovered from the two packets thrown inside the jail over the walls by unidentified persons.
No, follow-up of the outcome of the recovery of mobiles has been shared with the media about the purpose of its usage. Taking the jail inmates on remand for investigation is said to be the main hurdle and the matter ends with simple registration of the cases.
