CPI Leader Sandosh Kumar P. Urges Centre for Urgent Relief Package for Flood-Ravaged Punjab
Ferozepur/Fazilka, September 8, 2025: Sandosh Kumar P., Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Leader of the Communist Party of India in the Upper House, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, appealing for a special relief package for flood-affected regions of Punjab.
In his letter, Mr. Kumar recounted the devastation he witnessed during his recent visit to Fazilka district, one of the worst-hit areas. He described the scene as catastrophic: vast stretches of farmland submerged under water, complete crop failure, widespread loss of livestock, and homes reduced to rubble.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Mr. Kumar called on the Union Government to respond with compassion and immediacy. He emphasized the need for swift relief and rehabilitation measures to reach the affected communities without delay.
The appeal comes amid reports that Punjab has experienced its highest rainfall in 25 years, leading to severe flooding across multiple districts.
