Ferozepur, November 2, 2024: In a proactive initiative to support the farming community, the Ferozepur Police rewarded mobile headphones to Farmer Gur Iqbal Singh, son of Shubegh Singh, from Village Talwandi Jalle Khan, for ploughing his land while keeping the stubble intact. This recognition comes amidst a broader campaign to combat stubble burning, which has seen a significant decrease in incidents this year.

As of today, Ferozepur has registered 38 cases of stubble burning under Section 3223 of the BNS, including 12 at Sadar Police Station, 7 at Arifke, and several others across various localities. In contrast to last year’s figures, where 516 cases were reported from September 15 to October 30, this year has seen only 268 cases during the same period, marking a notable reduction. In 2022, there were 730 incidents reported during this timeframe.

To enhance prevention and enforcement, the SSP has deployed 29 additional patrolling teams under SHOs, along with 65 special teams associated with PCRs. The police are collaborating with the district administration to monitor stubble burning closely, having conducted around 165 meetings with farmer unions and 105 with Village Development Committees (VDCs). Regular patrols are being carried out at 100 hotspots known for high farm fire incidents, and cluster officers have been appointed to oversee joint patrols with police throughout the district.
