Ferozepur Deaf Wrestling Team shines at 4th Punjab State Championship
Ferozepur, September 28, 2024: The wrestling team from Ferozepur made a remarkable impact at the 4th Punjab State Deaf Senior/Junior and Sub Junior Wrestling Championship, held at the Sports Complex in Sector 7, Chandigarh. Competing in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman categories, the deaf athletes delivered stellar performances, earning multiple medals and showcasing their exceptional skills.
Medal Winners are – Surinder Kamboj (79kg) – Senior Division: Freestyle: Gold Medal, Greco-Roman: Gold Medal (82kg), Balwinder Singh (57kg): Freestyle: Gold Medal, Greco-Roman: Gold Medal, Binay Sharma (60kg): Freestyle: Gold Medal, Madan Lal (67kg): Greco-Roman: Gold Medal, Harwinder Singh (57kg) – Junior Division: Freestyle: Medal Winner, Greco-Roman: Medal Winner.
These remarkable achievements reflect the dedication and hard work of the team, which trains daily at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium in Ferozepur. The athletes are now preparing for the National Deaf Championship, scheduled for 2024-2025, as well as the 2025 Summer Olympics, where they aim to continue their winning streak.
The team is supported by the Sports Association, Patiala, a key organization promoting deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes.
