In 377 cases against drug peddlers, 436 accused arrested during 2023 in Ferozepur

DC Ferozepur holds Narco Coordination Committee meeting

Ferozepur, 17 August 2023. A Narco Coordination Committee meeting was held under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Dhiman, related to anti-drug activities in the district.

Deputy Commissioner said that to protect our future generations from the scourge of drugs, there is a need to intensify the war against drugs and every citizen should come forward considering their moral and social responsibility to stop it. He said, if any suspicious element is seen by a person, then the relevant information must be given to the nearest police station and the identity of the person giving the information will be kept confidential.

He said that the BSF is on full alert to prevent drone activities on the Indo-Pak border and now no drone activity is being detected on the border. He asked the officials of the Education Department to create awareness about the ill effects of drugs in schools/colleges to make Punjab a drug-free state.

He said that stage plays, skits or other activities should be organized to make the youth aware about drugs. Besides, a light and sound show related to the lives of martyrs should be shown to the school students at Hussainiwala so that the youth would be inspired by the martyrs to serve their country and stay away from drugs. He ordered the health department to conduct raids on medical stores to prevent drug addiction and to give them strict instructions not to give syringes to anyone without a doctor’s prescription.

During the meeting, the police officials told that since January 2023, 377 cases have been registered against drug peddlers in the district, in which 436 accused have been arrested and further, the district police will conduct search operations from place to place to stop drug dealers.

On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Suraj, SP (D) Randhir Kumar, Deputy District Education Officer Pargat Singh, DSP. (STF) Rajbir Singh, Ajay Kumar, Amarjit Singh and Madan Lal from BSF, Dr. Gurmez Ram from Health Department and other officials of various departments were present.
