“Operation Vigil” : 19 booked in 19 cases under NDPS, Excise, Gambling, Arms Acts in Ferozepur
Recoveries during Operation Vigil : 2.298 kg heroin, 525 habit forming capsules, 145 ltr illicit liquor, 20 kg lahan, gambling amount Rs 5500, one gun, 4 live cartridges
Ferozepur, May 11, 2023: During the statewide ‘Operation Vigil’, on May 9 and 10, 19 persons were booked in 19 cases under NDPS, Excise, Gambling, Arms Acts in Ferozepur.
Divulging with the details, Bhupinder Singh, SSP said, under directions of DGP Punjab, Operation Vigil was conducted in Ferozepur. During the operation, search was carried out at different locations in the city with heavy force. He said the Operation Vigil (OV) was against to tighten the noose against anti-social elements and this OV has given a postive message in the society.
SSP said, during the operation 2 kg heroin was detected – one kg heroin and one i-Phone from Jaipal Singh of Tarn Taran from near Sandhe Hasham Adda and further during the investigation, another one kg heroin was recovered from Gurbaz Singh Baza of Tarn Taran, at the designated place. Now the action will be taken against the accused after in depth investigation and getting the police remand from the court. Meanwhile, it has also come of surface on scruting of past history of these accused, Gurbaz Singh Baza has also been booked in NDPS and Arms Act at Civil Lines, Amritsar under Sections of 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC.
He further said, during the Operation Vigil, 19 booked in 19 cases under NDPS Act with recovery of 2 kg 298 gm heroin, 525 habit forming capsules in 12 cases with arrest of 12 persons, under Excise Act 145 ltr illicit liquor, 20 kg lahan, one working still in 3 cases with arrest of 3 persons, under Gambling Act Rs.5,500 in 3 cases with arrest of 3 persons, and one 12 bore gun with 4 live cartridges under Arms Act in one case with arrest of one person.
SSP said, other achievements are arrest of one Proclaimed Offender, checking of 706 vehicles with challan of 101 vehicles for violation of road safet rules and 6 vehicles were impounded and checking of 821 suspicious nature persons by different teams.
