Police, RPF conduct Flag March in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, June 19, 2022: Seeing the growing protest against the Agneepath scheme in the country and also in Punjab at Ludhiana and Jalandhar, Ferozepur police took out a flag march as a precautionary measure and also to convey the message by making an appeal to the people to maintain peace.
The flag march was led by SPH Balbir Singh, DSP Satwinder Singh, and Mohit Dhawan, SHO, Ferozepur City.
High alert has also been issued in the cities facing protests besides posting of police in civil clothes to monitor the activities of the protesters so that the public property could be saved. In the meantime the railways have cancelled number of trains in violet affected cities. Checking by the RPF has also been intensified along with the police, at the railway stations, to avoid any untoward incident.
With the cancellation and short termination of certain trains in the other division and few in Ferozepur division also, the trains time has disturbed, the passengers who had booked the tickets in advance by planning their visits to attend to some functions, meet relatives and enjoy pleasure trips being summer holidays, attend meetings or other engagements, had to face lot of inconvenience. The tickets are being cancelled by the passengers putting a great loss to the railways
In the evening, the police personnel from the police station took out flag march at the main places of the city including railway station, and appealed to maintain peace.
S.P.Khera, Senior Citizen Forum making an appeal to the protesters said, the protests may be genuine against the Agneepath scheme, but the way the protests are being made, damaging the public property, is not appreciable. The government should invite the protesters and think over revising the scheme.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer, Police Station, Ferozepur City said that a police force has been called to deal with any untoward incident. The police will take strict action against the troublemakers.
