Ferozepur Police bust fake Whey Protein Powder manufacturing unit in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, March 29, 2022: The Ferozepur police have unearthed a well-oiled and organized gang for making and selling fake whey protein powder after sticking labels of top national and international brands. One person has been arrested while another one is absconding and yet to be arrested.
Divulging with the details, SSP Ferozepur Dr Narender Bhargawa said, On a tip-off, the police raided the Gajjan Singh Colony near the BSF Headquarters on Ferozepur-Moga Road late on Tuesday evening and caught a factory manufacturing fake whey-protein powder. The police have recovered stickers and other materials of companies making Indian and international whey-protein powder.
He said, the police have arrested one of the accused while the other managed to escape. On the other hand, police station Kulgarhi has started further investigation by registering a case against two accused on Tuesday.
He further said, the police had received secret information that some people are preparing fake whey-protein powder – the watery part of milk that remains after the formation of curds – and selling it in the market, posing a serious threat to health.
The police party led by DSP, Yadvinder Singh raided a house in Gajjan Singh Colony, opposite the BSF Headquarters on Ferozepur-Moga Road from where the material and machines for making fake whey-protein powder were recovered. Not only this, there are hundreds of empty boxes, powder bags and stickers of Indian and international companies have been found, he said.
The SSP said, the accused Sonu Sharma resident of Kumhar Mandi Ferozepur Cantt and Ajay Mittal resident of Gali No.2 Ferozepur Cantonment have built a house in Gajjan Singh Colony. Half portion of it is given on rent to preparing the said powder and in the other half, they gamble.
Police recovered 141 empty plastic boxes of 5 kg, 21 plastic boxes (vanilla flavored) of 5 kg, a packing machine, two powder dispensers, a box filled with stickers of different companies from the said house, about seven bags of Maltodextrin powder (50 kg in a bag), a 50 kg bag of custard powder vanilla flavored, bill book, a mixer machine, 260 pieces of plastic bags, five packs of chocolate powder and a computer case have been recovered, he said.
SSP said, the police have arrested Ajay Mittal while Sonu is absconding. Meanwhile, a case undr Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and 7 EC Act and 7 Prevention of Food Supply Act 1854 and 13/3/67 of Gambling Act at Kulgarhi Police station and further investigations are on.
