Ferozepur: 13,500 ltrs ‘lahan’, 450 illicit liquor bottles seized

Ferozepur, July 26, 2021:  Working on the government’s zero-tolerance policy to illicit and spurious liquor and drugs, the illicit liquor business, using ‘lahan’ (raw material for making liquor),  has been going on in border areas for a long time. To wife this menace out, on Monday, in a joint raid conducted by excise and police officials, under the supervision of  Gurbaksh Singh, Excise Inspector, Circle Zira, in the enclaves of confluence of Beas and Sutlej in the surrounds of village Mararh at Harike, 13,500 ltrs ‘lahan’ and 450 illicit liquor bottles have been seized.

Two days back 64,000 litres of lahan and 1,250 bottles of illicit liquor recovered and destroyed on the spot being unclaimed and to avoid its misuse.

However, 6 tarpaulins, 3 iron drums, 3 aluminium utensils, 7 Bags of illicit liquor (450 bottles ) and 2 working stills have been  taken into custody.
