Ferozepur: 6 deaths, 164 new COVID-19 +ve cases, need to speed up vaccination
Ferozepur, May 29, 2021: On Saturday, 6 deaths due to Covid positive and 164 new cases have been reported in the district, with recovery of 184 persons. So far only 1,12,490 have been vaccinated in the district in four months and this slow pace of vaccination makes the situation more vulnerable to more COVID-19 waves.
Three containment – 2 Gurursahai and one at Ferozepur Urban and 28 micro-containment zones – 5 at Mamdot, 10 Guruharsahai, 3Feroshah, 3 Kassoana, 7 Ferozepur Urban, are under close monitoring.
As per the report, 1,69,758 samples were taken, since the outbreak of virus, out of which 1,56,826 were negative, 12,532 positive, 10,511 were recovered while 1,626 are active cases and reports of 400 samples are still awaited.
Six deaths today in the age group of 30 to 81 years are of one female and five males in Ferozeshah, Kassoana, Guruharsahai, Mamdot nd Zira blocks taking the total of deaths to 395.
In the vaccination drive, 1,12,490 persons have been given jabs including the frontline and health workers taking the total vaccination.
The vaccination in the district is going on as per the supplies. In case the response of the people is encouraging, the pace of vaccination will also be faster. The awareness drive is going on in the district at the administration level and through various social organizations to follow the Covid behavior protocols and vaccination simultaneously, said a health official.
However, the slow vaccination pace makes the situation more vulnerable to more Covid-19 waves and with the present pace of vaccination, around one lac persons in four months and for vaccination of 15 lac population of Ferozepur district, it is likely to take four to five years. Thus, there is a need to speed up the vaccination work to break the chain of Coronavirus.
