Sunil Kataria from Ferozpur to Appear in Netflix’s Kohrra Season 2

Ferozepur, February 3, 2026: The critically acclaimed crime thriller web series Kohrra is set to return with its second season on Netflix on February 11, 2026.

The series will be available in Hindi–Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, along with English subtitles.

The new season will also feature award-winning filmmaker and media professional Sunil Kataria, who hails from Ferozpur, Punjab.

Sunil has earlier appeared in the Punjabi films Desi Munde (2016) and Mehar in 2025.

According to Sunil Kataria, the release of Kohrra on a global platform like Netflix will help take the name of Ferozpur to an international audience.

Speaking about the production, Sunil shared that the shooting of Kohrra Season 2 took place in Amritsar in December 2024.

Apart from lead actors Barun Sobti and Mona Singh, the series also features several prominent Punjabi artists, including Rana Ranbir and Balwinder Bullet.

How Did Sunil Get the Netflix Series?

Sharing his experience of working on Kohrra Season 2, Sunil Kataria said that in December 2024, he received a call from the series’ casting director, Nikita Grover.

He was informed that the series included a character related to the media profession, and an audition script was sent to him.

Sunil submitted his audition via video, and his role as a media professional was finalised the very next day.

Talking about his experience with Netflix and the Kohrra team, Sunil said that Mumbai-based teams work far more professionally compared to the Punjabi industry.

What Is the Kohrra Series?

Kohrra (meaning fog) is an Indian web series set against the backdrop of Punjab. The series is produced by Netflix and is primarily in Hindi – Punjabi.

Kohrra is a crime thriller that focuses on the crucial role of the police.

The first season was released in July 2023, while the second season will premiere on February 11, 2026.

Season 2 has been directed by Sudip Sharma and Faisal Rahman, with the story written by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia, and Sudip Sharma.

Google and BBC Documentary Films

In 2014, Sunil Kataria gained attention for his 41-second micro-film, Honesty Is the Best Policy. The film has been screened at several film festivals and special screenings in Australia, Canada, and India.

In 2016, Sunil worked as a co-director on Google’s documentary film India in a Day. The project involved renowned filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap, Richie Mehta, and Ridley Scott.

India in a Day was not only released in cinemas but was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals.

Later, in 2019, Sunil worked as an assistant director and assistant producer on the BBC’s innovative 360-degree virtual reality film Hand in Hand, based on the Kumbh Mela.

The film, which depicts faith and spirituality, was produced in English and several Indian languages, received multiple awards, and was showcased at national and international platforms.

For his significant contribution to the fields of media and arts, Sunil Kataria was honoured in 2025 by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, at a ceremony held in Chandigarh.

According to Sunil, Ferozpur has always been his first love, a place that instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. He has also been honoured by Punjabi University, Patiala, and the Punjab Government.
