Major drug seizure in Ferozepur during statewide War Against Drugs
Ferozepur, April 28, 2025: As part of the ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign in Punjab, the Zonal Licensing Authority, Lakhwant Singh, along with Sonia Gupta, Drug Inspector, Ferozepur, conducted a surprise inspection at M/s Arihant Pharma in Makhu. During the inspection, the team seized a substantial quantity of drugs — 20,420 tablets and 380 capsules — of nine different types, valued at ₹1,75,865. The action was taken due to the firm’s failure to produce valid purchase records and corresponding sale documents for the stocked medicines.
The officials said, a report to this effect has been sent to the higher authorities and further action as per the provisions of law will be taken.
The authorities, however, emphasized that such crackdowns will continue to ensure strict compliance with drug regulations and to curb the illegal sale and distribution of pharmaceutical products. The seized medicines have been taken into official custody, and further investigation is underway.
The officials also reiterated their commitment to intensify inspections to safeguard public health and support the state’s firm stand against the drug menace.
