Contractual Workers Demand Regularization and Wage Hike

Ferozepur, February 28, 2025 – The General Majdoor Union (related to INTUC) organized a meeting at Katora village, addressing the long-standing demands of contractual workers. The meeting was led by Union President Sukhdev Singh Katora and General Secretary Jit Singh Ghaspur.

Union leaders highlighted that despite repeated appeals, contractual workers employed in various sectors such as sanitation, education, healthcare, and transport are not being regularized. They demanded the regularization of all contractual workers, a minimum wage of ₹10,000 per month, and the implementation of ₹1,040 daily wages as per government norms.

The union criticized the administration for ignoring their demands and warned of intensified protests if their issues were not addressed. They also urged workers to unite and participate in the upcoming strike to press for their demands.

Prominent members including Balwinder Singh Bhakhshiwala, Surjit Singh, and Rajinder Singh were present at the meeting.
