DG BSF pays tribute to martyrs, strengthens bonds with border communities at Hussainiwala
Ferozepur, December 11, 2024: On Wednesday, Daljit Singh Choudhary, IPS, Director General, Border Security Force accompanied by Satish S Khandare, IPS, SDG (West) Chandigarh and Dr Atul Fulzele, IPS, Inspector General, FTR HQ BSF Punjab visited the Sector HQ BSF Ferozepur. During the visit, the DG paid a solemn tribute to the martyrs at the National Martyrs Memorial, Hussainiwala, where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were cremated on March 23, 1931.
Afterward, he visited the BSF War Memorial at JCP Hussainiwala, where he paid homage to the martyrs of the 1971 Indo-Pak War. At the memorial, the DG laid a wreath at the Akhand Jyoti, the eternal flame, honouring the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He also toured the BSF Museum at JCP Hussainiwala, where the historic pistol of the legendary martyr Bhagat Singh is on display. Following the visit, he went to the arena of JCP Hussainiwala parade ground, where he was briefed about the history and synchronization of the retreat parade.
Later, the DG BSF visited BSF Border out Post Rajamohtam, where he paid tribute to the BSF martyrs. This BSF Border post is renowned for the valiant defense put up by BSF troops during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, when they sacrificed their lives protecting the country’s border.
During the visit, the DG also hosted a function to honour the families of the martyrs, meeting them personally to express his deepest respect and gratitude for their sacrifices and also witness a war documentary “RAJA MOHTAM: THE UNTOLD SAGA OF BSF BRAVERY” prepared on the vital role played by BSF in war of 1971. Civil dignitaries, police representatives, local border population, and the families of BSF martyrs also attended the screening of the war documentary.
Sh Raghuvir Singh, SI (Retd.), BSF, a veteran of the 1971 war with Pakistan, has shared his profound experiences with BSF personnel and the youth residing near the border. He spoke passionately about the unparalleled bravery of the BSF martyrs who valiantly defended Post Rajamohtam, standing their ground and sacrificing their lives to protect the nation.
The Director General, Border Security Force inaugurated the BSF Mahila Prahari accommodation at the Border out Post Rajamohtam. This new accommodation is equipped with modern facilities designed specifically for the BSF Mahila Prahari, highlighting the BSF’s commitment to supporting and empowering BSF Mahila Prahari. During the inauguration, the DG, BSF expressed admiration for the brave women who voluntarily joined the BSF to serve the nation, recognizing their courage and dedication.
The DG also mentioned that the BSF is working on creating advanced and well-equipped accommodation facilities for BSF Mahila Prahari at various BOPs along the border, ensuring they have the necessary amenities to perform their duties effectively.
DG BSF expressed his gratitude during his first visit to Hussainiwala, feeling honoured to set foot on the land of martyrs. He addressed the challenges BSF faces while guarding the country’s western and eastern borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Notably, BSF has renamed seven Border Outposts (BOPs) after its martyrs, paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The BSF has made numerous efforts to promote the welfare and development of people living in border areas. Our primary objective is to ensure border security while also improving the lives of local residents. To achieve this, the BSF has initiated various programs, including health camps, educational initiatives and employment opportunities in border areas. Our troops have worked closely with local residents to strengthen border security, leading to improved safety and positive changes in the lives of those living in these areas. We are confident that our efforts will continue to foster a peaceful and secure environment in border regions.
Additionally, he appreciated the cooperation of the local border population, acknowledging their ongoing support to the BSF in preventing crime and combating criminal activities in border areas. He emphasized the vital role of the local community in helping the BSF maintain security and order. The DG BSF also encouraged young people living near the border areas to consider joining the BSF, urging them to contribute to the nation’s security and serve the country with pride.
