Azad Hind Pedaller Club Fazilka earns prestigious ‘Super Randonneur’ Title
Fazilka, October 2, 2024: The Azad Hind Pedaller Club of Fazilka has reached a remarkable milestone in long-distance cycling. The club completed a gruelling 600 km cycling challenge, earning its members the prestigious title of “Super Randonneur”.
Speaking on the achievement, Simaljeet Singh, the club’s general secretary, expressed his excitement, stating, “Dreams do come true, but only with hard work. Our entire group committed to achieving the ‘SR’ title, and today, we have made history as the first from Fazilka to do so.”
The club’s founders—Shashikant Gupta (55), retired Naib Tehsildar Ram Kishan Kamboj (62), Simaljeet Singh (43), and Arpit Setia (38)—have accomplished a feat that fills the residents of Fazilka with pride. Their success came through completing the Super Randonneur series organized by Audax India.
To earn the ‘Super Randonneur’ title, cyclists must complete four brevets: 200 km, 300 km, 400 km, and 600 km within a calendar year, all within strict time limits. Each cyclist completed the challenge in time.
The final ride of the series, a 600 km Punjab-Haryana Friendship Ride on September 28-29, 2024, passed through multiple cities, starting from Abohar and returning along the same route. Senior club member Ram Kishan Kamboj described the journey as tough but rewarding, highlighting the courage and dedication of the entire team.
The cyclists were welcomed with a grand celebration, including garlands and a cake-cutting ceremony, as their families and fellow club members congratulated them on their outstanding achievements.
