NICARAGUA HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASE: SIT Head SP (I) Ferozepur appeals victims to come forward with complaints
Ferozepur, December 30, 2023: Randhir Kumar, Superintendent Police (Investigation) Ferozepur, who has been assigned the duty as SIT Head of Nicaragua Human Trafficking Case said, the Punjab Police appeals victims to come forward with their complaints. FIRs will be registered promptly as soon as the victim comes forward to set the law in the motion. He said the victims can contact Anti Human Trafficking Unit at the respective districts or can contact the special investigation team for registration of the cases. However, the Punjab Police is also in touch with central agencies, and agencies of other states on the issue
Added here, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, Director Bureau of Investigation (BOI) LK Yadav on Saturday constituted a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate offences of human trafficking involved in the Nicaragua Human Trafficking case.
The SIT is headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Ferozepur Randhir Kumar, while, three members include ACP Civil Lines Ludhiana Jasroop Kaur Baath, DSP Investigation Ferozepur Balkar Singh Sandhu and DSP Headquarters Patiala Dalbir Singh Sidhu.
The SIT has been asked to submit the final report to the competent court at the earliest. The SIT can also co-opt any other officer/official for assistance in the investigation of the case.
Meanwhile, a Nicaragua human trafficking case has been reported in various newspapers where 303 passengers from India, mostly belonging to Punjab and Gujrat, have been detained by French.
He said, the Punjab Police is committed for safety and security of its citizens as per directions of the CM Bhagwant Mann.
