Malbros Liquor Factory Zira Row: Court remanded four in judicial custody till Jan. 2 during pending investigation
Ferozepur, December 21, 2022: Four protesters identified as Balraj Singh of Fereke, Fateh Singh of Rataul Rehi, Sukhchain Singh of Jowian Waa and Jagsir Singh of Sanor who were booked under Sections 153-A, 283, 268, 341, 143, 144, 145, 186 188, 148, 149 of IPC and 25/4754/59 of Arms Act and Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984 were produced before the Duty Magistrate.
Anshuman Siag, JMIC/Duty Zira has remanded them in judicial custody till 2.1.2023, during pending of investigation and ordered to be produced through Video Conference Link.
On a call from Sanjha Morcha, around 8,000 farmers belonging to 32 farm unions had reached at Zira which has been leading the protest. The protesters have forcibly removed the barricades, in which around 6 cops were also injured. There had been deadlock over lifting of the dharna demanding not less than closure of the factory, release of protesters, cancelleation of FIRs and resumption of 25 arms licences revoked by the administration.
Ten persons were also booked for illegal power connection at the protest site and around 600 unidentified persons were booked for forcibly joining the protest. There was a face-to-face clash between the protesters and police.
In the meantime, the Court on submission of the status report by the district administration has fixed the next date as December 23 with fresh directions.
