Ferozepur, November 20, 2022: Like previous year, today on the occasion of World Remembrance Day (WDoR) for Road Accident Victims, the Mayank Foundation – a leading local NGO – delivered an awareness message through banners and poster placards in Municipal Park and reiterated its commitment to take road safety regulations seriously.
Every year on the third Sunday of the month of November, World Remembrance Day is observed for the victims of road traffic in which tributes are paid to the victims of road accidents and a pledge is taken to take appropriate steps to reduce such accidents. It also provides a platform to acknowledge the crucial work of the emergency services and advocate for better support for road traffic victims and their families besides promoting evidence-based actions to prevent and eventually stop further road traffic deaths and injuries.
Deepak Sharma, Founder Mayank Foundation launched in memory of his son, who too had become a road victim said, every 24 seconds we lose a son, daughter, brother, sister, parents, relatives and neighbours in road accidents.
He said, during the last year, more than 1,50,000 people are killed in road accidents in India alone and we must take the issue of road safety seriously and save precious lives lost in road accidents.
Giving a road safety mantra – drive slow and drive in queue – Deepak said with folded hands to follow this to save the precious lives.
Candles were also lit to pay homage to those who lost their lives in road accidents.
