Ferozepur police in action mode nab drug smuggler, seize heroin
Ferozepur, May 13, 2022: The Ferozepur police looked to be in action mode by nabbing one drug smuggler with one kg of heroin, just on the first day, after the directions of Chief Minister Punjab to the police and civil galaxy in the state, to work in tandem with the Special Task Force (STF) and launch join operations to nab big sharks running the drug mafia.
Divulging with the details, Charanjit Singh SSP Ferozepur said, during the routine patrolling, the police team got a tip-off that Vishnoor and Vikas residents of Kothi Rai Sahib are doing the business of heroin sales and both are coming from Ferozepur Cantt to the city on Activa scooter.
SSP said, working actively on the in-puts, SI Tara Singh nabbed Vishnoor (21) by raiding and recovered from his possession an envelope containing 1 kg heroin in the presence of Jagdish Kumar DSP(D).
He said, during the preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that he (Vishnoor) along with his cousin arranged the heroin from the Mallanwala area and further sell it at a higher price to earn profit. The police remand for Vishnoor has been obtained from the court till May 16 and more clues are likely to come to surface to break the chain of the drug mafia.
The police teams are also working to nab the other accused, Vikas, who is already booked under Arms Act at Sadar police station and in the meantime, a case under NDPS Act has been registered at Cantt police station, said SSP.
