Chandigarh/Ferozepur, January 19, 2022: On Tuesday, Punjab State Council for Science & technology (PSCST ) in collaboration with Startup Punjab and Indian Institute of Science Education & Research celebrated Vigyan Utsav, a joint initiative of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India & State Science & Technology Councils to showcase country’s Science Technology & Innovation (STI) ecosystem for Atma-Nirbhar Bharat.
On the occasion, Dr Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director, PSCST presented Innovation & Start up Ecosystem of the State. Sibin C, IAS Director, Industries & Commerce-cum-State Startup Nodal Officer in his special address said that the State has established a dedicated Start-up cell under the aegis of Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab. He emphasized that Punjab is an entrepreneurial state with attractive & innovative industrial policy offering numerous fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to incubators, accelerators, & budding Start-ups.
During the event, a MoU was also signed between PSCST, AIIMS Bathinda & NASSCOM Foundation for facilitating Pilot Test Bedding of two Startups – AINDRA & Janitri in Punjab under Jancare Innovation Challenge supported by BIRAC & NASSCOM for providing innovative technologies for improved healthcare in low resource settings.
Dr. Debapriya Dutta, Advisor, DST-GoI also launched RootWorks Learning Platform, a Start-up jointly supported by PSCST & DST-GOI for developing digital platform workable in rural areas to help students continue with their studies during COVID without internet or smart phones.
The event was aired live on WebEX and YouTube and attended by more than 100 potential & operational start-ups.
