Ferozepur: Mobile, plastic bottle containing banned item sachets found from inside jail
Ferozepur, July 18, 2021: During the search operation carried out by Hari Singh, Assistant Superintendent along jail staff, fund one mobile and 14 sachets of banned item ‘zarda’ hidden under the brick in the yard of ward number 3 at chakki ahata number 6.
Number of times recoveries of banned items have been made which has raised a question mark on the security arrangements as to how these are smuggled in. However, the vigil staff and in-puts have thwarted the attempt to its usages. Earlier, during the current year 88 mobiles have been recovered during the search operations.
Few days back, DIG Jails had said, the security arrangements have been tightened at all the entry points besides raising the high walls of the jails with electric wire fencing is going on, to prevent throwing of packets from outside. The only preventive step can be installation of CCTV cameras along with the boundary wall and jammers for which a proposal is already under consideration of the government.
As per the available information, one plastic bottle was also found thrown from outside by some unscrupulous persons near tower number 2 of pillar number 5, from which 14 sachets of ‘zarda’-tobacco were found.
Meanwhile, a case under Sections 52-A/42 Prisons Act has been registered against unidentified person with appoint of Baldev Singh IO and investigations are on.
