Ferozepur, February 17, 2024:  Nirmala Devi wife of Dr.Gya Parshad – an associate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, donated her body for research and teaching purposes to Kanpur Medical College said son Kranti Kumar adding that a Guard of Honour was also given by the district administration.

Added here, by donating your eyes, you can enlighten the life of two blind persons. This gesture of yours would allow them to come out of darkness and step into a life full of colours. Corneal diseases are the major cause of visual impairment and blindness in developing countries.

Kranti Kumar shared that  Nirmala Devi, wife of Dr Gya Parshad – a revolutionary associate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh died two days back at Kanpur.  Dr Gya Parshad had made a hide-out at Ferozepur in Turi Bazar by taking on rent the building where Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Chander Shekhar Azad, Sukhdev, Shiv Verma, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Mahavir Singh and other revolutionaries used to come between August 10, 1928, to February 4, 1929. This hide-out still exists in Ferozepur Turi Bazar Mohalla Shah Ganj. But despite declaring it as a National Heritage, it has not yet been developed.

On Dr Gaya Parshad’s arrest, he was sentenced to ‘Kala Pani’ and later on release, he stayed with him and later on died.   My father made a great contribution to the freedom movement of the country.  The dead body of Nirmala Devi was donated to the Medical College, Kanpur for transplanting eyes to two persons and a body for research and teaching purposes for the students.
