STF cracks Malwa to Majha drug supply line, 4 peddlers nabbed
Ferozepur, February 23, 2018: The STF Border Range Amritsar has cracked Malwa to Majha drug supplies and arrested 4 smugglers with 2.50 kg heroin by an STF Amritsar team of Kirpal Sigh, DSP, Arun Sharma, Inspector, Shinder Singh SI headed by Rachhpal Singh, Assistant Inspector General, Police, Border Range Amritsar.
Addressing the media persons, Rachhpal Singh, AIG STF, Border Range Amritsar said, the STF had got a grand success with the arrest of 4 peddlers and recovery of 2.50 kg heroin.
The peddlers have been identified as – Manjit Singh son Sikandar Singh of Hazar Singh Wala (Mamdot), Sharma Singh, Satnam Singh and Gulshan Singh son of Lakha Singh Tahliwala (Sadar PS Jalalabad).
AIG said on a special tip-off that the arrested peddlers have contacts with Pakistani smugglers and Manjit Singh – the kingpin who had agriculture land across the fencing wire, used to get the consignments dumped in his field, who later was supplying the heroin to the areas in Ferozepur, Fazilka, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and other areas.
He said a case under NDPS Act was registered at Fazilka under No.6/22.2.2018 under Sections 21, 23,29-61-85.
During the preliminary investigation, it has come on the surface, the accused have admitted that they have links with their counterparts in Pakistan and heroin consignment received from Pakistan is dumped in the fields. The STF team today recovered four packets containing 2.5 kg heroin at the designated spot in the field of Manjit Singh was recovered in their presence, AIG added. This recovery has no connection with the earlier recovery of 4 Kg heroin and death of a Pakistani national two days back, he added.
He further said, the investigation from the accused is on and more important clues are likely to come up with regards to their drug supply links in India and Pakistan. He also disclosed that Sharma Singh’s close relatives are already facing the drug supply case with the recovery of more than 50 Kg in Fazilka.
AIG disclosed that the peddlers have adopted the different modus-operandi to dodge the police and to transport the heroin to other places in the vehicles meant for ferrying employees by driving themselves so that the police may not suspect.
He, however, declined to share the names of the Pakistani links from the security point of view and it may further hamper their investigation.
