Pak based Foundation to convert Bhagat Singh’s ancestral house into Memorial

Ferozepur, February 3, 2021:  The existing Bhagat Singh’s ancestral house will be converted into a Memorial and Pakistan based Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation has come forward.

Presently, the house at Jaranwala Tehsil in Banga village, now Bhagatpura in Faisalabad district in Pakistan, is in possession of third-generation – Jammat Ali Nambardar has agreed to hand over the house, said Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman, Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Lahore.

He said the Pakistan government has declared the house as Heritage in 2013 and was opened for the public in 2015 and Rs.5 crore was given for its renovation by the then-District Coordinator officer Nural Ameen Mengal.

He informed the process for converting the house into a Memorial is going on for the last so many years and every year on the day of Bhagat Singh’s sacrifice on March 23, a fair is also organized. According to the old-timers of the village, the mango tree planted by the grandfather of Bhagat Singh 124 years back is still standing.

Qureshi informed on the phone from Lahore, the said house has been divided into three parts.  One – where Bhagat Singh was born is in possession of Jamat Ali Virk  Nambardar, who had agreed to dedicate it as Memorial when he visited Lahore High Court campus.  The meeting was arranged on the call of Syed Shamshed Hussian Jillani, Coordination  Secretary who has announced the Bhagat Singh is not disputed religious and political personality between Indo-Pak and both countries loving him.

According to Qureshi, the Foundation will purchase this house to convert it into Memorial of Bhagat Singh and at the time of construction, the soil from Jalllianwala Bagh will also be arranged to mix it with the soil here.

Qureshi who is fighting in the courts of law to prove the innocence of Bhagat Singh said, there were 450 witnesses in his case but not of them was properly tried during the course of hearing and cross-examination was done.  Taking this base, the case is going on in the Lahore High Court.  In this case, he has also asked for unconditional tendering of apology by the British government and he is hopeful to prove his stand.
