Ferozepur witnesses dip in active COVID-19 cases, district administration urges caution

Ferozepur, May 31, 2021:  On the second consecutive day, the dip in Corona positive cases in the district has been witnessed.  On Monday, 89 new Corona positive cases were reported in Ferozepur. On May 30, 133 positive cases were reported and maximum 306 were reported in a single day on May 7.  However, with 6 deaths today, the total is 402 deaths in the district with 1,553 still active cases with a recovery rate of 84 per cent in the district.

Deputy Commissioner, Gurpal Singh Chahal and Dr.Rajinder Raj, Civil Surgeon have made an appeal to the citizens to continue to maintain this status of dip in positive cases in the district by following the Corona-appropriate behavior of wearing masks, washing hands and keeping social distance while moving out of the house.

With withdrawing of one micro containment zone (MCZ) at Mamdot and declaring of three more MCZs at Kassoana, the number of Containment Zones (CZ) are three, two at Guruharsahai and one at Feroepur Urban and 30 MCZz – 4 Mamdot, 10 Guruharshai, 3 Ferozshah, 6 Kassoana, 7 Ferozepur Urban, the total tally is now 33 zones under observations – 3 CZs and 30 MCZs in the district.

As per report, 1,72,145 samples of RTPCR, Rapid Antigen Test and Truenat were taken, out of which, 12,754 were reported positive, 10,799 recovered, 1,553 still active, 1,59,142 negative while report of 250 samples was still awaited.

With six deaths reported today, the total tally has crossed four hundred and it is now 402 since the outbreak of Coronavirus in this party. Today’s deaths are in the age group of 30 to 76 years – two each in Guruharsahai, Mamdot and Ferozshah Blocks.

In the vaccination drive, today 9,567 persons were given Covid vaccine making the total as on date to 1,22,057 persons including the frontline and health workers taking the total  vaccination.
