Ferozepur, February 15, 2022:  Cracking a whip on the vehicle lifting, ahead of Punjab Assembly elections, the Ferozepur Police on Tuesday busted a gang of vehicle lifters and arrested two persons in this connection. Police have also managed to recover 30 motorbikes from their possession and claimed that they will have more recovery from the gang through interrogation.

Divulging with details, SSP Ferozepur, Dr.Narinder Bhargawa said, a special team was constituted under the tutelage of Manwinder Singh, S P(I), Jagdish Kumar DSP and CIA staff incharge Jagdish Kumar.  During the routine patrolling, an in-put was received, when reached near Hazara singh Wala in Mamdot area that Dilpreet Singh alias Dili of Laka Singh Wala Hittar, Kulwant Singh alias Bittu of Guruharsahai, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi of Kutabgarh and Awtar Singh alias Tari, have formed two-wheeler vehicle lifting gang and later on sale it to the innocent persons at the cheaper rates, without giving any valid documents, despite assurance.  It was also informed that all the stolen vehicles have been sold by them to the village and waiting for the customers at City Hear School Mamdot.

He said, working swiftly on the tip-off, a raid was conducted and two stolen motorcycles were, whose chassis numbers have been removed and registered in some other names, from Dilpreet Singh and Kulwant Singh.

During the further in-depth inquiry, 28 more stolen vehicles were recovered from their possession stolen from different stations, Mohali, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Ludhiana etc.  He said, the investigations are still going on and more clues for recovery of stolen vehicles is likely to come on the surface.  The remaining two gang members will also be nabbed shortly, for which the hunt is on.  Further, on scrutiny of record, Gurpreet Singh is already wanted in five cases and Awtar Singh in ten cases under various Sections of IPC, added SSP.
