BSF SEIZES 24 KG HEROIN

 

FEROZEPUR: The Border Security Force (BSF) claimed to have seized 24 kg heroin within two days – 22kg heroin in the area of the Bahadurke Border Outpost under Abohar sector in Fazilka district and 2 kg in the area of BOP Gatti Hayat Ex-137 Sector Ferozepur, valuing Rs.120 crore.

Border Security Force personnel have successfully recovered 02packets (Approx02 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be Heroin and 1 Pakistani SIM Card on Punjab border on 27thOctober’ 2015 in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Gatti Hayat, Ex- 137 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border due to high grown paddy crops and ongoing harvesting season, Shri Anil Paliwal, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling and activities of Anti National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Shri R K Thapa, DIG, SHQ BSF Ferozepur directed field Commander to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of smugglers/Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers during this harvesting season.

Based on information about smuggling of narcotics through International Border, on 27th Oct 2015, a Special Search Operation was carried out by BSF troops ahead of Border Security Fence in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Gatti Hayat, Ex- 137 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur. At about 0730 hrs, during search of the area, the BSF search party recovered 02 packets (approx. 02 Kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin and 01 Pakistani SIM Card which were hidden in a cavity under a Shesham tree.

The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements to smuggle contraband items into India.

 

Earlier on Sunday midnight, BSF troops at the outpost observed suspicious movement of some miscreants near the border fence. The jawans

 

Of the 117 Battalion started monitoring the suspicious movement. At about 0215 hrs, they observed smugglers trying to insert a plastic pipe in the fence.

 

The troops then challenged them an asked them to surrender, but the smugglers did not pay any heed to the warnings and opened fire on the troops, said Eapen P V, DIG, SHQ, BSF, Abohar.

 

The BSF troops also retaliated by firing.  However, the smugglers managed to escape taking cover of undulating ground level, standing paddy crops and darkness, he said.  During search of the area, 22 packets, each carrying 1kg heroin were recovered, the DIG claimed.

During the year 2015, 281.663 kgs heroin has been seized besides, FICN, poppy husk, weapons, magazines, ammunition, mobiles, SIM cards etc.
