Ferozepur, May 1, 2015 : Today, Anuj Parkash, Divisional Rail Manager, Northern Railway Ferozepur Division made an appeal to the people of Punjab not to disrupt the rail operations which causes inconvenience to the passengers who travels for some important work.

It may be added that the Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa has given a call for Rail Roko on May 2 for one hour in protest against the alleged open loot of farmers in the mandis in the state. The demands include immediate lifting of the wheat and release of payment to farmers who are facing harassment because of delayed payments.

DRM said, the railway is already upset with the regular rail roko andolans which disturbs the movement of the trains and loss on account of refund to the passengers.

He said, the affect of rail rook agitation creates a problem of delay in running of trains besides bothering the scheduled visits of passengers which involves their career also.

He further said, during the last 2 days rail roko andolan by the farmers on 27th and 28th April, 120 trains were affected which caused a lot of problem for the passengers and national loss in crores.

DRM making an appeal to the people said to resist from stopping the trains which affects the entire nation.

However, the railway is ready to face the agitation and will ensure that the trains run on the tracks to enable the passengers to reach to their destinations.   The Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been directed to make security arrangements for the security of the passengers, trains and railway stations and Md. Shadan Zeb Khan, Sr.DSC RPF will look after the arrangements, he added.

Apart from this, Anju Sharma said, he himself will be monitoring in the divisional control room alongwith other senior officers of the divisional office.

According to Sr.DSC, special teams have been constituted to monitor the situation in the division on account of rail roko call.  He said, no one will be allowed to damage the property of the railways for which elaborate arrangements have been made.  The help of GRP and Punjab Police will also be taken to deal with any untoward incident on the day of rail roko call.
