Timely treatment and care can prevent hair loss: Dr Dikshit Goel

Ferozepur, January 20, 2026: With a growing number of people struggling with hair-related problems in the present times, timely treatment and proper precautions can help protect hair health, said Dermatologist Dr Dikshit Goel during a seminar organised at a local Bagi Hospital here.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Goel said that hair fall has become a common problem today. She explained that the causes of hair loss include genetics (hereditary factors), ageing, stress, illness, medical treatments such as chemotherapy, certain medications, dietary restrictions, styling habits, trauma and pregnancy. She added that men, women and even children are affected by these issues.

Dr Goel further informed that the most common cause of hair loss is ‘androgenetic alopecia’, which affects both men and women. In men, it usually begins between the ages of 20 and 30, while in women it is more common between 40 and 50 years of age. Apart from this, sudden patchy hair loss (circular patches) and tightly tying hair can also lead to excessive hair fall.

Advising people not to panic, Dr Goel said that effective treatments are available depending on the underlying cause. She explained that medicines like Minoxidil and Finasteride can help control hair fall. In addition, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy and permanent solutions such as hair transplantation are also available to restore hair and improve appearance.

Doctors, trainees and several patients attended the seminar and interacted during the session.
