Train services disrupted in Jammu Region due to flash floods in Chakki River
Ferozepur, August 26, 2025: Rail traffic between Jammutavi–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Jammutavi–Bari Brahman sections has been temporarily suspended after heavy soil erosion and flash floods in the Chakki River. As a result, several trains have been cancelled, short-terminated, or short-originated to ensure the safety of passengers.
Fifteen trains scheduled for August 26, 2025, including the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–New Delhi, Jammutavi–Varanasi, Kalka–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Express services, have been cancelled. Long-distance trains to Chennai, Rishikesh, and Sambalpur have also been called off.
Several trains have been curtailed or rerouted. The Sealdah–Jammutavi Express (Aug 25) was short-terminated at Ludhiana, while its return service will originate from Ludhiana on August 27. Similarly, the Indore–Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Express was terminated at Jalandhar Cantt, and its return leg will start from there.
Other trains, including Chennai–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Rajgir–Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, Subedarganj–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and New Delhi–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, have either been terminated en route or will originate from alternate stations such as Ambala Cantt, Delhi Jn, Manwal, Chakrakwala, and Bari Brahman.
Railway authorities have assured that services will be restored as soon as track safety is ensured. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates before planning their travel.
