EPFO stops pension for pre-2014 retirees, resentment among pensioners
Ferozepur, February 9, 2022: Pensioners of Employees Provident Fund Organisations (EPFO) here expressed resentment over stopping of pension to pre-2014 retirees.
Ashok Kataria retired SAO, Sarwan Handa retired AAO, Subhash Gakhar retired Branch Officer, Bahadur Singh retired Technical officer and Harish Kumar retired Pvt Secretary, all from Markfed said out protest is against the wrong implementation of the Supreme Court judgement wherein instead of releasing the higher pension, the Provident Fund authorities have stopped the already revised pension from January 2023. They said, the pension for January 2023 was credited in our bank accounts but later on the same was reversed. Even the amount of pension for December 2022 has been allowed to be withheld with the bank.
Not only this, the old pensioners have been issued notices to submit certain documents which we have already submitted at the time of revision of the pension. Asking for the same is a mockery with the retiree class. This has caused widespread resent among the pensioners especially for anti-employees attitude.
They said, in the absence of regular pensions like government employees, we are dependent on interest on our savings but the banks too have reduced the deposit rates. We appeal to the PF authorities to reconsider the decision and stop harassing the retirees at fag end of their lives by asking the fresh documents when the pension has already been revised from the date of retirement on the higher wages, after completing all the formalities.
Making an appeal to the PF authorities, the pensioners urged for implementation the apex court decision in letter and spirit instead of harassing us.
