Ferozepur, June 23, 2022: Once again kudos to Ferozepur police for foiling an attempt to loot the ATM, with the busting of 5 members of a notorious looters’ gang and recovery of 29 motorcycles, a gas cylinder with a cutter to be used to break the ATM in the area.

Earlier also, the Ferozepur police have solved the blind murder of an elder lady within 48 hours with the recovery of 71 gm of gold.

Divulging with the details, SSP Charanjit Singh Sohal said, under the campaign against the anti-social elements, a special team was constituted headed by Gurbinder Singh, SP(I) along with Sandeep Singh, DSPL Zira, Jagdish Kumar, DSP(D) and in charge CIA.  The input was received that five members of the looter’s gang, are likely to make an attempt to loot of ATM or robber of a leading shop in the Mallanwala area.   Working swiftly on the inputs, the attempt to look ATM was foiled with the arrest of all the five accused identified as Ravi, Zora of Harike Ke, Bobby of village Doomniwala, Satnam Singh of Achhewala, and Sagar of village Rakhri, were arrested.

SSP informed that a gas cylinder with a cutter to be used to loot the ATM, one country-made pistol 315 bore with 5 live cartridges, Kapa, sword, axe, and iron rod, were recovered from them.

In all, 29 stolen motorcycles have been recovered – 17 by CIA staff in Ferozepur on June 17, by arresting two accused Sona Singh of village Chak Aria in Fazilka and Ajay alias Ajju of Talwara in Haryana, 10 in Ferozepur City  with the arrest of Ramandeep alias Deepa, Hardip Singh, Rakesh, Sisa and Sahi and 2 Sunny of village Navi Abadi and Sewak of Basti Bag Wali, on June 21.

He further informed that all the alleged accused have been booked under Sections 399, 402 of IPC, and 25/27 of Arms Act at Mallanwala police station.

The gang has been basically operating in Kulgarhi, Zira, Guruharsahai, Makhu, and Mallanwala, and as many as, 15 cases have been registered against the five gang members at different police stations under Sections 399,  402, 379, 380, 457, 380, 411 of IPC, said SSP.

Further in-depth investigations are on and more clues about the working of the gang are likely to come to the surface, during the course of their remand taken from the court.
