Ferozepur police arrest 9 accused of criminal links with recovery of arms and ammunition
Ferozepur, April 19, 2022: In a special operation against an anti-social elements, Ferozepur police arrested as many as 9 people with criminal links, on Tuesday and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
Divulging with details, Charanjit Singh Sohal, SSP Ferozepur said, In all, 9 persons have been arrested – 5 of looters’ gang, 2 bike lifters, and two battery thefts. The accused have been identified as Sandeep urf Billa, Sagar, Vishal, Shinda of Khilchian Jadid, and Gurdip Singh urf Kali of Jama Rakhia Uttar, Mamdot. However, as per preliminary investigations, Sandeep has involved 7 criminal cases of drugs under the NDPS Act at Sadar and City police stations, Gurdeep Singh is also involved in 6 cases under NDPS Act at Mamdot, Jalalabad and Mohali, and Sagar in one NDPS case at Sagharia in Hanumangarh District.
He said a tip-off was received that the looters’ gang members have planned for a robbery and can be arrested if raided. Working swiftly on the input, the constituted for the purpose Manwinder Singh SP, Jagdish Kumar, DSO, and Jagdish Kumar, in-charge CIA staff, raided at the designated place and arrested all the five gang members with the recovery of two pistols .32 bore Made in Japan, one revolver .32 bore, one country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges and one Hyundai car of registration number PB05AL-0330 from five looters gang from near Babe Di Mazar, Guruharsahai.
In another tracing the looting incident of the I-20 car, in the Zira area on April 7, two bike looters gang members Harnam Singh and Ranjodh Singh of Tarn Taran were arrested on April 16 with the recovery of the car in which they were traveling and stolen I-20 car from his residence along with both number plates and Stepney, one licensed pistol .32 bore in the name of Harnam Singh, 2 magazines with 10 live cartridges of .32 bore.
In the third incident, two persons identified as Rakesh and Vijay urf Lali have been arrested with the recovery of one car being used by them. The arrested of remaining three members Ajay of Ludhiana, Ajay of Awa Basti, and Baljit Kabaria of Kamal Ke of Moga district are yet to be arrested. The accused are involved in the theft case of in the case theft of 10 tractor batteries and 17 car-jeep batteries.
The accused are on police remand and more backward and forward clues are likely to come to the surface during the ongoing further investigations.
Appreciating the district police team, SSP said, the police would continue to rise to the occasion and make a concerted drive to eradicate the menace of gangsterism in the district.
