Ferozepur, April 11, 2024: Immediately on coming to know of the people falling ill, on consuming Kuttu Atta, on the first day of Navratri, the Health Department issued an advisory not to purchase and consume Kuttu Ka Atta till the lab report is received.
Added here, Nutrients like protein, fibre, magnesium, vitamin B, iron, folate, calcium, zinc, magnesium, copper, and phosphorus are found in kuttu flour. Eating it during the fasting days does not make you feel hungry and the energy is maintained in the body. Kuttu flour is different from normal flour. It deteriorates in a month. It is said that Kuttu Atta should not be saved after the fast is over and always use fresh Kuttu Atta.
On Wednesday evening, many people in Ferozepur and surrounding areas became sick after eating food made from Kuttu Ka Atta, also known as buckwheat flour, during the Naratas.  The victims reported dizziness, vomiting and uneasiness. The victims reported to have been around 100 in Ferozepur City, Cantt and Basti Tankan Wali and in the adjoining stations also few people have been affected by consuming Kuttu Atta.
Dr Gurmej Goraya, MD, Deputy Medical Commissioner, Civil Hospital said that as many as 37 cases have been reported for treatment in the civil hospital after consuming Kuttu Atta.  As a precautionary measure, we have also formed the teams for sampling and also issued an advisory for the people, not to consume Kuttu Atta, till such time the sampling report is received. He also advised the people to immediately report to the hospital to find any symptoms to the nearest hospital for getting proper treatment.
