Prisoner’s wife caught trying to smuggle drugs into jail
Ferozepur, November 11, 2018: On Saturday, a woman went to meet her husband at Central Jail Ferozepur, was arrested, on the recovery of drugs from her, during the search at the Ladies Check Post on registration of a case under Section 42 of Prisons Act 1894, on the complaint of Jail Superintendent.
Giving further details, Dalip Kumar, IO appointed, in this case, said, Chhindo Bhai had come to meet her husband Jaswant Singh under-trial lodged in the Central Jail in case No10/18 facing charges under Sections 21, 65, 85 of NDPS Act and 420 IPC registered at Jalalabad Sadar Police Station.
Before entering the meeting barrack, during the search of Chhindo Bai at the Ladies Check Post, when 30 drug tablets from her possession, suspected to be intoxicant tablets, he added.
IO said Chhindo Bai has been arrested and further investigations are on. However, to ascertain as to whether it was a regular feature depending on her number of visits and escaping the attention of the jail staff would come on the surface during the examination.
Different modus operandi is adopted to smuggle in the drugs. Even some sometime the criminals deliberately get arrested so that they can sell drugs to prisoners. Handing over drugs at the time routine meeting by the nears and dears escaping the attention of security staff is also one of the modes adopted for taking drugs inside the jail, sources said.
