Members of BKU (Sidhpur) demands reschedule of paddy sowing date

Ferozepur November 16, 2018: The Bharti Kisan Union – BKU – Sidhpur – have demanded reschedule of paddy sowing date advance by 15 days and today protested by blocking the highway near Octroi post No.7 in Ferozepur Cantt for non-making purchases of paddy by the government agencies in Mansa and Bahtinda areas.

Sukhdev Singh Bura Gujar, President, Baldev Singh, Major Singh Baja Khana are on fast unto death since November 10 but there had been no response from the government.

Fateh Singh District President said, with the late sowing of paddy for ten days, the harvesting has also gone late by 20 days with the result there is heavy moisture in the paddy creating the problem in its marketing.

He demanded that the paddy sowing is rescheduled at least 15 days in advance so that paddy harvesting could be arranged on time.

Giving a warning to the government, he said, in case the paddy is not procured immediate and paddy sowing is not rescheduled, the agitation will be intensified.

Protesters were also addressed by Vice President Gurjit Singh, General Secretary Darshan Singh Bran and Kulwinder Singh Sekhon.
