BSF seizes heroin from near Indo-Pak border
SEIZURE OF 04 PACKETS (APPROX WT- 02 Kg) OF CONTRABAND SUSPECTED TO BE HEROIN BY BORDER SECURITY FORCE IN THE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY OF BORDER OUTPOST GATTIHAYAT, EX- 29 BN BSF, SECTOR FEROZEPUR.
1. On 02 Jan 2019, Border Security Force troops successfully seized 04 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin (approx. weight 02 Kg) in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Gattihayat, Ex- 29 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur.
2. Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border and heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti-National Elements on border, Sh Mahipal Yadav, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the activities of Anti – National Elements on Punjab border with Pakistan. Accordingly, Deputy Inspector General, Sector BSF Ferozepur directed Field Commanders to maintain extra vigil on the border to thwart the attempts of Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/ Anti-National Elements.
3. On 02 Jan 2019 during late evening hours, on duty BSF troops in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Gattihayat, Ex- 29 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur, heard some suspicious sound and became alert. On observing the suspicious movement of Pak smugglers, BSF troops challenged them. However, the Pak smugglers managed to escape towards Pak side taking advantage of dense fog and undulating ground. Immediately, the area was cordoned by BSF troops and extensive search and combing operation was launched in the above area. During the search at about 1853 hrs,
04 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin (Total weight approx. 02 Kg) recovered in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Gattihayat, Ex- 29 Bn BSF. 4. Vigilant troops of Border Security Force once again thwarted the attempt of Anti-National Elements to push the consignment of contraband items into India.
