Ferozepur, October 27, 2023:  The Anti-Drug Drive by the police in Ferozepur has led to another freezing of property constructed through illegal means of drug business, valuing Rs.22,57,946 after getting orders from the Competent Authority at Delhi.

The Ferozepur police are doing a tremendous job against drug abuse and showing no let-up in their mission to create a drug-free environment in the district.  The action of freezing the property of drug smugglers has been initiated for the first time to ensure that the empire raised by the drug smugglers from the narcotic trade is hit hard beyond their imagination.

By targeting both movable and immovable assets of drug smugglers, the Police have given a significant financial blow to the drug business; sending a message that drug peddling would not be tolerated.  The people of the district are appreciating Police action and urged the Police to continue their mission, which can save the lives of scores of youth involved in drug addiction.

With the freezing of one more illegal property of drug smuggler Charanjit Kaur daughter of Bakshish Singh of village Khanna Tehsil Zira under Makhu police station,  valuing Rs.22,57,946 lac under NDPS Act 1985 Section 68-F(2) after orders from the Competent Authority at Delhi,  during the year 2023, the total illegal property to the tune of Rs.9,65,80,272 in 20 cases have been frozen so far.

Divulging with details, SSP Deepak Hillori said, a notice outside the house of Charanjit Kaur involved in the intoxicant drugs trade, had been pasted outside his house. A case against her was registered in August 2021 under the NDPS Act at Fatehgarh Panjtoor, District Moga police station and she was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with Rs.1 lac as fine.  Charanjit Kaur3  3.5 marla house in village Khanna valuing  Rs.10.50 lac, Soma wife of Bakshish Singh had Rs.7,47,232 in PNB account, Gurcharan Singh son had Rs4,60,714 in PNB account making the total value of property worth Rs.22,57,946 has been frozen under NDPS Act 1985.

He said, 10 drug smugglers’ cases for getting freezing orders of their property under the NDPS Act have been sent to the Competent Authority in New Delhi and 15 more such cases are in the pipeline and we are working on the same.

In all the 20 cases so far, the property worth Rs.9,65,80,272 cr has been frozen, which the drug smugglers or any of their family members cannot sell or transfer, till further orders.
