ACROSS THE BORDER: Pak based Foundation remembers martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh massacre

Ferozepur, April 14, 2022:  Today, the victims of the  Jallianwala Bagh massacre were paid tributes at Lahore High campus by Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, Chairman, Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation on the eve of 103rd Martyrdom Day of Jallianwala Bagh.

Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which took place on April 13, 1919, the Baisakhi day, after Brigadier-General Reginald Edward Harry Dyer ordered 50 British Indian Army soldiers to open fire on a crowd marks one of the darkest moments in Indian history. According to British government records, 379 people including men, women, and children were killed while 1,200 were injured in the indiscriminate firing ordered by Colonel Reginald Dyer. Unarmed protesters and pilgrims had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on the occasion of Baisakhi.

Present on this occasion were Dr.Shahid Naseer, Jalil Ahmed Othi, Sayeed Shamshad Hussain, Nasrim Khattak, Chaudhry Zubair Farooq, Salman Hameed Khokhar and others participated and raised their voice for the innocent victims.

Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi put forth the demand from the Queen of Britain to tender her apology for this brutal incident of firing on the innocent persons besides paying the heavy price to their kids.  Besides, made an appeal to the Pakistan government to release a postal stamp dedicated to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, including the massacre incident in the school books, to put wiser the students as their courage, heroism, and sacrifice will strength to them.
