Six Mobiles Seized in Jail Amid Ongoing Security Drive
Ferozepur, November 28, 2024: Prison authorities continue their crackdown on illegal mobile usage, seizing six mobile phones from inmates in a raid conducted today. The operation, led by Superintendent Sarwan Singh, highlights the persistent issue of smuggling communication devices into the prison despite stringent security measures in and around the facility.
The phones were found in possession of the following inmates: Gurbaksh Singh, son of Gurpal Singh, resident of Mohalla Jattan Wala, Zira, Luvpreet Singh, son of Major Singh, currently lodged at Ferozepur Central Jail, Satnam Singh, son of Gurbaksh Singh, resident of Chak Mehantan Wala, also known as Bungi, under Guruharsahai police station, Ferozepur, Ramesh Singh alias Mesha, son of Jagtar Singh, resident of Bhandariya Wali, presently staying at Amir Khas, Fazilka district., Sanjeev Kumar, son of Santa Singh, resident of Jalal Wala village under Sadar police station, Ferozepur, Anurag alias Saggu, son of Surjit Singh, resident of Waria under Makhu police station.
These individuals, already incarcerated for various offenses, were found to possess the contraband during a detailed search operation conducted by jail authorities.
This recovery adds to the 465 mobile phones seized from the jail premises in 2024 besides various other banned items, reflecting the persistent issue of unauthorized communication devices within the facility
Cases have been registered under Section 52-A of the Prisons Act, and an investigation is underway, with Sarwan Singh appointed as the Investigating Officer (IO).
The recovery of mobile phones remains a challenge for prison officials, who are intensifying efforts to curb such activities with regular inspections and monitoring systems.
