Ferozepur, October 12, 2023: In its drive against drugs in the state, the Counter Intelligence officials, under the tutelage of Lakhbir Singh, AIG CI and Baldev Singh Patli Incharge CI Ferozepur, on an in-put, arrested two persons while they were carrying dropped from drone 12 kg heroin in a Swift Dzire vehicle number PB-18-8998.
Earlier, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav in a tweet confirming recovery of 12 kg heroin from two persons has said, “Big Blow to Trans Border narcotic network: In an intelligence-led operation, CI Ferozepur has apprehended 2 persons and recovered 12 Kg Heroin. FIR under NDPS Act is registered and Investigations on-going to establish backward & forward linkages.”
Further disclosing the details, Lakhbir Singh, AIG said, “On working swiftly on an intelligence input that two persons will pass from Ferozepur roads, who were arrested near Qile Wala Chowk, by covering the concerned roads, identified as Gurbinder Singh alias Binder and Kulwant Singh of Jhabal in Tarn Taran district with recovery of 16 packets weighing 12 kg heroin. While Gurbinder Singh is involved in two cases of NDPS Act and Arms Act of 2014 on recovery of 16 kg heroin and 2017, Kulwant Singh alias Kanta is involved in NDPS Act of 2018 with recovery of 780 habit forming drugs tablets.
AIG said, during the preliminary investigation, it has come to surface that these two accused had collected the heroin dropped from the drone. Due to modern technology in drones, the humming sound of fans and blinking lights covered with tapes, it becomes difficult for even BSF to detect the movement of drones. We are working on the drone dropped heroin place and its further collection and delivery sources.
Now, it is a matter of investigation and we are working on backward and forward links minutely, to trace the collection of packets and its further delivery sources collected the packets and where they were to be delivered. We will produce the accused in the court to get police remand for in-depth exploration and more important clues are likely to surface soon.
