Ferozepur police held 6, let off on bail for gambling

Ferozepur, June 11, 2023: Gambling cases are on an all-time high in certain places and this illegal trde is going right under the nose of local police at various public places.  However, the alert Ferozepur police working swiftly working on the in-puts, have arrested six persons on the charge of gambling under Gambling Act.

Divulging with detail, Randhir Kumar, Superintendent Police (Investigation) said, the gambling activity was rampant in the district and in the past also certain persons were arrested on charge of gambling. Based on a tip off that the accused were indulging in gambling, the police teams conducted the raids at the designated places involved in gambling and nabbed six persons identified as Ishu, Hardip Kumar of Ferozepur City, Kishan, Raj Kumar of Ferozepur, and Kuldip and Paramjit Singh of Mamdot.  The cash amount of Rs.5,580 was also recovered from their possession.

Since the recovery of amount on the spot is not too high, the accused does not look to be high profile persons.  But no more details were divulged.

A case under Sections 13, 3 and 67 of the Gambling Act has been registered against the accused at the Ferozepur City, Ferozepur Cantt and Mamdot police stations. However, later on, the accused were released on bail.

Gambling Act seems to be weak as the accused immediately get bail after the arrest. gambling is very organized nexus and in majority of the cases there is no complainant as some time high-profile people, big socialites and businessmen are also involved in this game.
