Ferozepur Police bust notorious bike lifters’ gang, 2 held, 22 bikes recovered

Ferozepur, February 6, 2023: With the arrest of two habitual bike lifters, the Ferozepur police on Monday busted a gang of vehicles lifters and recovered as many as 22 bikes from their possession.
Divulging with the details, SP(D) Randhir Kumar said, the Ferozepur police CIA team, in its drive against the anti-social elements, received an in-put that Balwinder Singh alias Binder and Jaspreet Singh alias Jassa of village Chapati near Lakho Ke Behram in Ferozepur are doing the illegal business of bike lifting.
Talking about the modus operandi, the SP said that after stealing the bikes from different locations of the district they used to sell the stolen motorcycles. He further said that they are planning to sell the bikes on the back of DAV college near Dhobi Ghat. In view of the spurt in the number of cases of theft of bikes and scooters from different part of the city, the police team, under the tutelage of Fateh Singh Brar, DSP(D) enacted a plan and working swiftly on the information registered a case at Ferozepur Cantt police station and nabbed both the accused with recovery of one stolen motorcycle.
Talking about the modus operandi, the SP said that during the course of preliminary investigations, both the accused admitted having committed various crimes for which action is being taken as per the law. However, further interrogation led to the recovery of 21 more bikes that were recovered and kept hidden, at the designated place in the forest department’s old building. The accused are on police remand after getting court orders and further investigations are on during which backward and forward plans are likely to come on surface.
SP said, both the arrested accused are also involved in cases of 2020, 2021 and 2022 under Sections 379, 411 and 420 at Lakho Ke Behram police station and Fazilka.
