On 3rd consecutive day, BSF seizes 6 kg heroin in Ferozepur and Amritsar Sectors
Ferozepur, January 13, 2022: With the approaching of Assembly elections in Punjab, the border districts have started witnessing a hike in the number of drugs and arms smuggling across the international border. On the third consecutive day, the Border Security Force (BSF) troops foiled a bid to smuggle contraband in Ferozepur and Amritsar Sectors with the recovery of 6 kg heroin.
Pakistan-based drug smugglers are making efforts to push drugs and contraband along with arms and ammunition, across the fence, which are demanded during the elections.
After the seizure on the last days of heroin of 22.5 kg and 7.4 Kg heroin, along with 2 pistols, 2 magazines, and 55 rounds, on the intervening night of Jan. 12 and 13, alert Border Security Force troops, observed some suspicious movement ahead of BS Fence in the AOR of Ferozepur Sector.
On search of the area, two packets of contraband items suspected to be Heroin (Gross weight – appx 1.3 Kgs) tied in green, dark, and light yellow wrapping were recovered. In another incident, during a search in the AOR of Amritsar Sector alert, BSF troops recovered five packets of contraband item suspected to be Heroin (Gross weight – appx 4.760 Kgs). The total seizure on Thursday, by BSF Troops is around 6 Kgs of contraband items suspected to be Heroin.
The Vigilant BSF troops, despite adverse climatic conditions, once again foiled the nefarious attempts of Anti-national elements to smuggle contraband, and BSF is committed in the fight against drugs.
