Ferozepur, February 26, 2024:  With the recovery of five mobiles, two data cables and banned items, the total recovery of mobiles during February is 25 in 25 days which comes to daily recovery of one mobile.  It was 64 mobiles, recovered during January. In total, 89 mobiles have been recovered during the current year. There had also been 77 packets thrown from outside over the high jail walls by unknown and unidentified persons.

As per the details, one mobile and one data cable were recovered during surprise checking by Sarbjit Singh, Assistant Superintendent, of block number 2, barrack number 1 and one mobile in the afternoon checking, lying unclaimed and hidden behind the LED.  In another check in the evening by Jasvir Singh, Assistant Superintendent, two packets thrown by unknown persons, over the high walls of the jail were found and on its opening, two mobile touch screens and one key pady, one data cable and 21 packets of tobacco ‘zarda’ and one bundle ‘bidis’.

Meanwhile, a case under Prisons Act Sections 42/52-A has been registered against the unknown persons and further investigations are entrusted to Gurmail Singh, IO.

As per the sources, the jail authorities are planning to install high-power jammers and 20 ft high net over the high walls so that throw and illegal use of mobiles by the prisoners could be stopped besides intensifying the security arrangements at the entry points.
