Vigilance nabs GM Punjab Roadways in bribery case

 

 Ferozepur, September 18, 2019: Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested a General Manager of Punjab Roadways Ferozpur depot on charges of corruption following the interrogation of Sub Inspector Gurmej Singh was arrested on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs10,000 from the complainant, working as a conductor in the Ferozepur Depot.

 

                Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said earlier Sub-Inspector Gurcharan Singh posted at Punjab Roadways Ferozpur depot has been nabbed red-handed on the complaint of Conductor Gurcharan Singh posted at the same depot. The complainant has approached the bureau and informed that the above said Sub-inspector was demanding Rs.10,000 from him not to involve him in the default inspection of oil filling station and help him in his posting to another branch. After verifying the facts the vigilance team nabbed the accused sub-inspector red-handed in the presence of two official witnesses.

 

                The spokesperson further added that during investigations, accused Sub-inspector revealed the investigators' officials that he has demanded the bribe amount on behalf of his GM Charanjit Singh Brar. Sub-Inspector further informed that he has been collecting money in the past from other officials also for his GM.

                The spokesman added that the VB team has also arrested GM Charanjit Singh Brar on the basis of concrete evidence.

                In this case, the Bureau has registered a corruption case against both the accused under the prevention of corruption act at vigilance bureau police station Ferozepur. Further investigations are under progress.
