Farmers organizations blocked traffic at Hari Ke, disconnects Majha-Malwa

Ferozepur, February 17, 2017:  Kissan Sangharsh Committee in association with other farmers organizations today blocked traffic on national highway at Head Works Hari Ke for an indefinite period disconnecting the Majha and Malwa.

Earlier, the protesters were on dharna in front of police station Makhu for more than 24 hours and later on shifted to Hari Ke on having no response from any quarters with regard to cancellation of false cases.

According to farmer leaders, more than dozens families of poor farmers of Basti Namdev – are making their both ends to meet by cultivating the small piece of land for the last 60-70 years.  But they are uprooted by the district administration with the influence of other group by registration of false cases against them.

They added that when they staged a dharna on January 6, SHO Makhu had registered cases against the protesters under the section 283/188, which was totally illegal and unjustified.

They opined that DSP Zira had assured them last time that the cases will be cancelled but even after almost a month not even single false case has been cancelled.

On the other hand, the sources said, this all is being done as per the court orders.  By the time of filing of this news, the district administration and police officials have reached Hari Ke to have dialogue with the protesters.
