RNTCP & CHAI jointly celebrate World TB Day – “Reach, Treat, Cure Everyone”

Ferozepur, March 25: In context of World TB Day celebrations throughout the world with a theme – “Reach, Treat, Cure Everyone” – today Revised National TB  Control Progrfamme (RNTCP) and Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) jointly celebrated the World TB Day in association with Department of Health & Family Welfare Ferozepur.

 

Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President flagged the rally to create awareness among the people.

 

Present on this occasion were, State TB Officer, Dr.Balbir Singh and Civil Surgeon, Dr.Y.K.Gupta, doctors, NGOs, students and organizers of Mother Teressa Institute.

 

Welcoming the Chief Guest, Maninder Kaur, Mass Media Officer, Kamal Kishore, Akshay Project Coordinator, Dr.Rajesh Bhaskar, Dr.Taranpal Kaur, Medical Officer, Dr.Pardeep Aggarwal, Dr.Gurmej Goraya, highlighted the importance of celebrations of World TB Day and symptoms of the disease and availability of treatment in the Civil Hospitals free of cost.

 

Kamal Sharma speaking on this occasion said, TB is cure-able disease and its treatment is available in the civil hospital free of cost. We should create awareness among the masses to get themselves checked up on noticing its symptoms and follow up the treatment.

 

Dr.Balbir Singh, State TB Officer said, Punjab is the second state after Kerala to get a running trophy for extending best services in the field of TB control NATCON Conference.

 

He said, every year about 9 million people get sick with TB while 3 million people don’t get the care they actually need. He appealed to the people to come forward to cooperate with the health department to reach to the patients.  There are about 37512 TB patients in the State.

 

Dr.Taranpal Kaur said, during the year 2012 – 2350 patients, in 2013-2402 patients and in 2014 – 2455 patients were detected and deaths were 48, 40 and 42 during these years respectively.

 

TB Forum members, Asha Workers and NGOs working in the TB awareness project were honoured by the Chief Guest.
