Pak based Foundation appeals PM Modi to confer Bharat Ratna award on Bhagat Singh’s 116th birth anniversary

Lahore/Ferozepur, September 15, 2023:  The Pakistan based Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Chairman, Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi,  in a letter to Narendera Modi, Prime Minister of India through Dr.Suraish Kumar, Charged Affairs, Indian High Commission, Islamabad, confer  with the highest civil award to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his 116th birth anniversary on September 28, in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice in the freedom movement of India, for the people of the sub-continent and declaring him as National Hero.

Bhagat Singh (27 September 1907 – 23 March 1931) was a charismatic India revolutionary who participated in the mistaken murder of a British police officer  John Saunders, as his name did not appear in the FIR lodged.

Added here, Qureshi is also fighting with the Pakistan government to rename the Shadman Chowk in Lahore after the name of Bhagat Singh and issue of commemorative stamps and coins to honour Bhagat Singh besides including lessons about his courage and bravery in the curriculum, who was hanged along with Rajguru and Sukhdev by the British rulers on March 23, 1913 and their bodies were left at the banks of Sutlej River near Hussainiwala in an unceremonious manner.   Earlier, the foundation has also demanded the new British King Charles III should apologize to Pakistan and India and the families of the three revolutionaries and pay them a huge compensation.

Qureshi said, the execution of these three revolutionaries, spurred many youth to take up the revolutionary path, playing a vital role in energizing the fight against the British empire.  They had become immortal forever and continued to shine in the darkness and we are indebted to this great warrior.  Now, remembering in our memories will keep him alive for times to come. Giving them thei highest honour will be a tribute to the martyrs.

Chairman, BSMF Qureshi said, Bhagat Singh and his associates, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who have great contribution for the freedom of India also asked both the government to restore social and economic ties and introduce an easily accessible visa policy for promoting peace between the two countries.
