Mobiles, banned items found in Ferozepur jail
Ferozepur, February 5, 2024: During three surprise checks conducted in the jail barracks, mobiles and sachets of ‘zarda’ were seized from the under-trial prisoners and lying unclaimed. Even during visitation, while handing over the goods or depositing to hand over to the particular prisoner, the banned items like mobile, SIM cards etc are added which sometimes escapes the attention at the entry points.
Divulging with details, Sarbjit Singh Assistant Superintendent, who conducted the surprise checking, recovered 70 sachets of ‘zarda’ – 30 sachets on February 3 from ‘Langar Barrack’ number 1 and 40 sachets from the bathroom, lying unclaimed.
During the other check on February 4, one mobile from block number 3, barrack number 5 from Dharamapret Singh alias Pamma and one mobile from block number 1, barrack number 2 from under trial prisoner Jasvir Singh alias Gaggu. Earlier, in January 2024, 65 mobiles were recovered.
